new import

Koha Listserve - Wed, 06/10/2015 - 13:36
Hi all, I just imported a collection (from Winnebago-Spectrum) to Koha for one of my schools. I have noticed that we seem to have quite a few biblios / records that we have "no items available" for. ie: one item will show as: Availability: No items available: The (seemingly) same book will show right below it as : Availability: *Copies available:* Alma High School (1), for an example http://198.111.156.193/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=buddy We have the entire collection turned in for the summer, so we do not have any checked out, and we cleaned up the Winnebago-Spectrum system (as best we could) before the export. I am having our librarian look over the system now, to make sure that it looks correct. But I'm starting to wonder if there is a way to remove the records that show "No items available" ?? Is there a way to clean this up, and only display items that we have available with copies in our collection ?? thanks for any advise on this. -S _______________________________________________ Koha

EBSCO EDS Plugin Problem

Koha Listserve - Wed, 06/10/2015 - 05:55
Hi all, We have installed EBSCO EDS Plugin version (3.1636) on koha 3.18.06 bootstrap interface, And configured it, And EDS folder permissions at least (755), But the discovery search doesn't appear in OPAC interface although we have an account and our information has been updated successfully, Also when opening Run tool <http://arkoha.maktabat-online.net:8080/cgi-bin/koha/plugins/run.pl?class=Koha::Plugin::EDS&method=tool> from plugins page it prompts the page to be downloaded or opened by a selected program and doesn't run Setup tool. If there are any suggestions ill be grateful. Thanks. _______________________________________________ Koha mailing list http://koha-community.org Koha< at >lists.katipo.co.nz https://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha

Sort Πas Oe, doesn't work. A bug of Zebra ?

Koha Listserve - Fri, 06/05/2015 - 06:27
Hi to all, I'm trying to setup sort and search of Œ [latin capital ligature oe, Œ] I'm usign debian wheezy, with ICU Zebra version: 2.0.44-3 [debian package] In lang_defs/en/sort-string-utf.chr I insert: encoding utf-8 lowercase {0-9}abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz uppercase {0-9}ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ [...] equivalent Œ(Oe) [...] map Œ (Oe) In etc/words-icu.xml <transliterate rule="{ Œ > Oe "/> In etc/phrases-icu.xml <transliterate rule="{ Œ > Oe "/> Now on searching Œ is the same of Oe, but in sorting. If I sort by title I receive this order: Orders from the city Œuvres par Emile Zola Œ is sorted a single letter, after simple 'O'. Not like two letters Oe I think there is a problem in Zebra because I setup everything I know to do the equivalence Œ = Oe Do you more about this topic ? Do you have a succeful example about equivalence Œ = Oe ? Bye Zeno Tajoli

Elastic Search Update

by Sebastian Hierl, Ph.D.
ElasticSearch integration in Koha is making progress. Since the announcement of the EBSCO grant to the Koha Gruppo Italiano this past February, the community, through an effort coordinated by ByWater Solutions, completed considerable work on the browse feature and enhanced patron functionality API access. Progress can be tracked through bugs #12478 and #13799 on the community Bugzilla site.

Bugs and Patches

Bugs needing attention.

Noisy Unit Tests

From Mark Tompsett
A recent conversation between Tomás Cohen Arazi and myself about tests on IRC the other week covered tests with floody warnings. To which he challenged me: “How is it that you haven’t already cleaned all the warnings from the unit tests?”

Well, never fear! I started. Bugs 14110-14118, and 14120-14121 basically cover all of t’s noise, and start into t/db_dependent. Many have been signed off by Bernardo Gonzalez Kriegel (Thank you!), but some have yet to be signed off.

If you hate floody tests, take a look.

Advice on barcode replacement/central catalog

Koha Listserve - Tue, 06/02/2015 - 16:39
5 buildings with each their own library. 1 is using Koha now, the rest are being migrated this summer. We are going with a central catalog. Barcodes are not currently unique across the libraries, so we are generating new barcodes and replacing every barcode on every item this summer. My question revolves around bringing these “new” libraries into our existing Koha system. If I import the current material set from one of the new libraries, how difficult is the process to batch-update the barcodes from an external data soure? We have a separate program that will be used to scan in the current material barcode, parse and process it, then spit out a new, library-specific barcode. This process will have the biblio and original barcode plus new barcode that we can then put into a comma separated file to “batch update” Koha, but we’ve not tried to do that. Is that possible? Biblio number - is that internal and generated by Koha or is that something that would import from the original Material databas

ًQuestions about 952 Field

Koha Listserve - Fri, 05/29/2015 - 18:02
Curious, What kinds of issues have people run into relative to the adding of 952 to records or the importation of these records into KOHA? I mean, is it better to add local holding info and barcode data into KOHA directly or is it faster to have already added this info already? I ask because I am using Connexion to create records for import into KOHA eventually (when we get our KOHA up & running - which is happening pretty soon now I think). I have been adding 952 to the records with barcodes, but will this data restrict my importation into KOHA? Thank you & have a great weekend everyone. Jesse

items not importing (Jennifer Perry)

Koha Listserve - Fri, 05/29/2015 - 05:26
Hi Jennifer, Could you send a sample marc record? Manny Ø The problem is that none of the items are importing into Ø the new Koha instance. Ø Is there a way to make Koha import Ø these items even if the 952$a and 952$b subfields don't quite line up? Problem uploading patrons

Koha Listserve - Thu, 05/28/2015 - 22:38
We're running 3.18.04. One (and only one) of my colleagues is unable to upload patron files. It's very curious, she has all the permissions, and I and another colleague have uploaded the same file without a problem. I have even logged into her account and uploaded the file successfully. But whenever she tries she gets a long string of error messages that boil down to Koha not parsing the header row. I've asked her to clear her browser (Firefox) history and cookies (there's an 8 hour time difference so I won't know if this works til tomorrow) Other than that I don't know why she can't do it and we can. Any ideas what might be causing the problem?

Check the current language

Koha Listserve - Thu, 05/28/2015 - 13:47
Hello all, I need to check and get the current interface language to make some action in Biblio.pm file, i mean like this if ($current_language == "en") { make some action; } else { make another action; } What is the used variable and code to do that? Thanks. _______________________________________________ Koha mailing list http://koha-community.org Koha< at >lists.katipo.co.nz https://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha
